ICU Nurse and High School Senior Killed in Devastating Highway Collision

The victims were identified Wednesday as Zebulon Lott, 33, an ICU nurse, and Luke Davis Jr., 17, a Columbia High School senior and football player.

Two people lost their lives Tuesday night after a two-vehicle crash on Highway 11 at Hankins Road in Jones County.

The victims were identified Wednesday as Zebulon Lott, 33, an ICU nurse, and Luke Davis Jr., 17, a Columbia High School senior and football player.

The tragic collision happened around 7:34 p.m. Firefighters from Moselle, Southwest, South Jones, Powers, and Union volunteer fire departments responded to the scene.

Upon arrival, they found a small pickup truck and a four-door sedan. The truck blocked both lanes of the highway, leading authorities to shut down the road from Moselle city limits to Ben Thompson Road.

Both drivers were trapped inside their vehicles and required removal using hydraulic tools. Deputies from the Jones County Sheriff’s Department and first responders from EMServ Ambulance Service worked alongside firefighters. The Jones County Coroner’s Office later confirmed the deaths.

Lott had just finished a 12-hour shift before the crash. He was known for his dedication as an ICU nurse, and his loss has left colleagues and loved ones heartbroken.

Davis, a standout kicker for the Columbia High School Wildcats, was driving to Hattiesburg after leaving his girlfriend’s home on Hankins Road.

His girlfriend, Roxana Grimaldo, shared that her family first learned about the accident through a video sent to her brother. They later discovered Davis was one of the victims.
