A woman was shot to death late Monday afternoon in a Fairfield neighborhood.
The Jefferson County Coroner’s Office identified the victim as Erykah Tate.
She was 26 and lived in Fairfield.
Jefferson County sheriff’s deputies responded at 4:50 p.m. to a report of a person shot in the 400 block of Forest Drive in the Forest Hills community.
Fairfield Fire and Rescue pronounced Tate dead on the scene at 4:56 p.m.
It was not clear if the deadly shooting happened inside a home or outside. Authorities have not released any details surrounding the slaying.
Investigators remained on the scene for hours after the killing.
No arrests have been made.
Tate’s death is the second homicide worked by the sheriff’s office since Saturday. A 20-year-old was shot dead in the Center Point area on Saturday.
So far this year, there have been 185 homicides in all of Jefferson County.
