Clarendon County deputies have taken into custody a woman in connection with the death of a man who they said was shot and killed at a local motel.
Investigators said that on Wednesday night, they got a call of a shooting at the Quality Inn on Paxville Highway near Manning, which is just off Interstate 95.
When they arrived, they said they found a man with an apparent gunshot wound lying on the upper part of the second-floor stairwell.
The coroner’s office declared the victim, identified as 28-year-old Abram Bernardo Walker Jr., dead at the scene.
Deputies detained a woman, 27-year-old Carrie Anastasia Woodberry, who was at the scene.
They said she had a handgun on her at the time.
Investigators said that, as of now, they believe this was a domestic incident that stemmed from a confrontation between Woodberry and Walker.
Woodberry was taken to the Clarendon County Sheriff’s Department, where deputies said she awaited charges.
