As a high school football player, Mike was ranked among the best in the nation and received 13 full-ride scholarships.
When he entered college, he was not interested in playing football.
He soon became involved with musical activities.

On April 18, 2022, he failed to win the public vote to become one of the Top 14 on American Idol season 20.
However, it wasn’t all over for the Idol wannabe as he became one of the four contestants saved by the judges and remains in the hunt for the title.
