The Managing Director of Universal Music Africa, Sipho Dlamini has revealed that, their brand is interested in partnering the Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture to produce all music related activities slated for the “Year of Return” which was launched by His Excellency Nana Akufo-Addo last year.
According to Sipho, Universal Music Africa is not only interested in the “Year of Return” but, they also intend to invest in live entertainment venues, talents etc. in an attempt to make the Ghanaian Music Industry more attractive to other investors who are yet to recognize the potentials within the Industry.
In a conversation with the Minister for Tourism, Arts and Culture, Hon. Catherine Abelema Afeku, Sipho reiterated the fact that, live event venues has been a major challenge in the African Music Industry and it’s one major thing the Universal Group is very much interested in addressing, and for that matter they have decided to set up a venue in Accra and Cape Coast for the start to reduce the infrastructure deficit in the Ghanaian Music Industry. When it comes to the talents within the industry too, they are looking forward to scouting and exporting Ghanaian talents to the World.
Hon. Catherine Afeku revealed she was quite pleased with the plans of Universal Music Africa and assured Sipho Dlamini that the government is going to collaborate with their team to ensure their smooth transition into the Ghanaian Market.
