Two women died and another was injured following a car crash in Greensboro on I-40.

Greensboro police said the crash occurred Monday around 12:15 a.m. on I-40 West at the Salem Parkway/US 421 split.

Officers said the driver of the vehicle, Jane Mary Alston, 22 of Greensboro and one of the passengers, Shamanesha Hargrove, 25, of Winston-Salem, died at the scene.

Investigators said, a 2014 Hyundai Elantra was westbound on I-40 and ran off the road to the right at the split onto the median area.

The car hit the ravine and began to flip, striking several trees.

The roof came off the car and the three women were not wearing a seatbelt, according to police.
