A woman has been charged with murder after allegedly shooting and killing another woman during an argument on a Chicago Transit Authority (CTA) Red Line platform.
Chicago police said Tiara Lee-Roberts, 28, shot Kamari McMillen, 30, around 9:46 p.m. Tuesday at the 69th Street station.
Witnesses reported the two were arguing when Lee-Roberts pulled out a gun and fired at McMillen, hitting her in the neck.
Paramedics rushed McMillen to the University of Chicago Medical Center in critical condition. Doctors tried to save her, but she was pronounced dead a short time later.
Lee-Roberts fled the scene but was arrested two hours later near 1400 West 63rd Street.
Police charged her with first-degree murder.
Authorities have not revealed what sparked the argument or how the two women knew each other. The CTA Red Line station remained closed for hours as police investigated.
This incident is the latest in a series of violent crimes on Chicago’s transit system, raising concerns about public safety.
Officials urge commuters to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity to authorities.
Lee-Roberts is set to appear in court later this week.
