A Brunswick man was shot and killed early Wednesday morning in the backyard of a home on Emanuel Avenue.
Taylor Beauford, 36, of Brunswick, whose age and address are not listed in a Glynn County police report, was found shortly after 1 a.m. on Wednesday by Brunswick and Glynn County police. He was suffering from a gunshot wound while lying on his left side, partially in the doorway of a small shed at a house in the 3800 block of Emanuel Avenue, just outside of the Brunswick city limits in Glynn County.
Brunswick police said in a daily shift report that a sergeant was at 5th Street and Norwich Street when she heard several gunshots coming from the Arco area.
Brunswick officers arrived within 54 seconds and found Beauford a few seconds later and began rendering aid until emergency medical personnel arrived, the shift report said.
County police found the Brunswick officers attempting to help Beauford when they arrived.
A woman who lives at the house said a younger, unknown Black man came into her backyard and said, “yo, Taylor, yo,” before firing shots at Beauford, the report said.
She saw the man then flee the scene southbound toward Norwich Street and Emanuel avenue toward the Quick Stop Meat Market before losing sight of him.
Brunswick officers deployed a K9 officer to track the suspect’s possible path, the shift report said.
She told county police that she did not know of anyone who had a vendetta against Beauford.
Two other women who live at the house said they also heard the gunshots in the backyard.
According to the initial incident report, no arrests were made Wednesday morning.
“Since the incident unfolded, a dedicated team of detectives, crime scene specialists and patrol officers has tirelessly pursued and explored various investigatory leads to unravel the circumstances surrounding the tragic event,” the police department said in a statement.
