A St. Ann, Missouri, woman is facing charges for allegedly leaving her children home alone during last Friday’s severe weather event.
According to the St. Ann Police Department’s probable cause statement, Crystal Ray left her four children—ages 8, 5, 3, and 8 months—unsupervised at the home during the dangerous storm.
Police said the children were upset and scared, and said their mother left while the tornado sirens were going off.
It’s believed the children were left alone for several hours.
When police met with Ray, she appeared to be intoxicated. While being taken into custody, police said Ray wrestled with officers, and struck and kicked them.
The St. Louis County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office charged Ray with four counts of first-degree endangering the welfare of a child and one count of resisting arrest.
Ray was jailed on a $75,000 cash-only bond. Online court records did not show an upcoming court date for her.
