A tragic car accident on Christmas Eve has left a community in Durant grieving the loss of Coach Will Robinson.
The accident occurred on 24th December when the vehicle, carrying Robinson and his family, went off the road and into a drainage ditch.
The father, Coach Will Robinson, was pronounced dead at the scene.
His wife and three other children were taken to the hospital with injuries that remain critical.
Robinson was a well-known figure in the Durant community. He served as a liaison for the 2023 Owen Foundation basketball camp at Durant High School and was an active leader in the Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA).
He had previously worked at Achille Public Schools before he joined Durant Public Schools.

This tragic event is made even more painful given the timing – Christmas Eve.
Friends and colleagues are mourning the loss of Robinson, describing him as a kind, faith-driven man who inspired those around him. Tyrus McGee, a fellow coach, wrote, “Will Robinson for the past 6 years iv gotten to know you and your family! Every summer you were always good to me allowing me to come workout and speak to your team at Durant Public Schools it was always respect from you. Iv respected you as if you were my own coach.I hate to see something like this happen to such a great person. May god be with your dad, family through theses difficult times. I’m very grateful for the opportunity of getting to know you and your family! I really hate that this has happened to such a great person! R.I.PYou will not be forgotten as a father or a coach!!!
Another friend, Fasiri Ellison, shared heartfelt words, saying, “This hurts deeply. But I’m comforted knowing Will lived a life full of faith and love. He reminded us all of the real reason for the season.”
