John Dramani Mahama has made a quick takeoff from his gathering’s prior activist stance against the new voters register, urging all Ghanaians to turn up and register when the new exercise at long last starts.
Talking during a community engagement at the Tongor territory of South Dayi in the Volta Region, the NDC flagbearer says in spite of the fact that his gathering, has its own conflicts with the EC’s request to utilize another voters’ register for the surveys, they won’t sabotage the majority rules system of the nation should the Supreme Court not rule in support of themselves for the situation testing the legitimateness of the accumulation of another appointive roll.
Mr Mahama asked all the chiefs and opinion leaders to use all the authority available to them to urge their subjects to massive turn up in their numbers when the activity formally starts.
“I want to remind all our citizens that, this year is an election year. The Electoral Commission has decided that it wants to conduct a registration exercise. We had disagreements with the Electoral Commission on what register to use and the matter has been at the Supreme Court and we are waiting for the Supreme Court for its verdict. Whatever verdict the Supreme Court gives, we are ready to be law-abiding citizens so we shall respect the verdict of the court,” he said.
