Nancy Harmon, the iconic gospel singer and evangelist, passed away early this morning.
Known for her powerful voice and unwavering dedication to ministry, Nancy touched millions through her music and mentoring.
The news was shared in a heartfelt statement by Nancy Harmon Ministries, saying:
“Although my heart is broken, what rejoicing is going on right now in the Heavenlies. Our beautiful Nancy Harmon made her home going this morning around 4 a.m. No more pain, no more Alzheimer, no more struggles… nothing but joy and peace.”
Who was Nancy Harmon?
Nancy Harmon’s journey in gospel music began at just 10 years old when she started singing in her home church. By 19, she had organized her first choir, and at 28, she dedicated her life to evangelism, founding The Victory Voices. Over the decades, Nancy became a trailblazer in gospel music and ministry, earning the respect of peers like Jim Bakker and Jimmy Swaggart.
The anointing on Nancy Harmon has filled churches, schools, street corners and homes of unwed mothers. She began The Love Special Telecast with TBN in 1974 and has continued on with her ministry of training youth for their own personal ministries. Over 1700 young men and women have called her “Mamma Nancy”, stood on her platform, and many are now in full time ministries of their own today.
Tributes from Friends and Followers
Tributes poured in from friends, colleagues, and admirers who were inspired by Nancy’s unwavering faith and dedication. Evangelist Jimmy Swaggart wrote:
“I have known Nancy Harmon for as long as I can remember. She would come to our crusades and visited the office on several occasions as far back as the early 80’s. She had an incredible voice and gift for writing music, not matched by many others of our day and time. Her ministry to young people saw thousands of lives changed over the years because her of her faithfulness and selflessness.
Nancy was a faithful viewer of SonLife Broadcasting Network and called almost every Share-a-thon letting us know she was watching and blessed by the programming. We were so thankful to have her at Family Worship Center several times during the last few years of her active ministry. From the moment she started singing, you could feel the presence of the Lord. The Lord anointed this dear lady with a touch from heaven that could not be replicated. The Kingdom of God will miss her here on earth, but she is suffering no more and singing on the streets of Glory..”
Joey Hampy, another admirer, reflected on Nancy’s lifelong devotion:
“Nancy Harmon is one of few people that I can truthfully say ‘left nothing on the field.’ She gave everything she had for the One who gave ALL.”
