Megan Keleman: 25-year-old Stow woman killed at Taco Bell in suspected murder-suicide

Police in Ohio are investigating a deadly shooting that occurred at a fast-food restaurant Wednesday night where two people died.

According to Stow police, 53-year-old Jason Williams shot and killed Megan Keleman, 25, while the two were at a Taco Bell drive-thru at about 7:30 p.m.

Police said Keleman had asked a Taco Bell employee that evening to call police about her car being hit by the person who was behind her in the drive-thru.

Stow Police Chief Jeffrey Film said when officers were on their way to the restaurant, the department received calls about a shooting.

Film said the driver behind Keleman, later identified as Williams, got out of his car and shot Keleman after approaching her vehicle.

Stow police said Williams then turned the gun on himself.

Keleman and Williams were pronounced dead at the scene from gunshot wounds.

According to Film, Keleman and Williams did not know one another.

“As chief of police and a community leader, I would like to say that this is a true tragedy. Not only did the Kelemans lose a daughter, but we as a community lost one of our daughters,” Film said.

Keleman’s dog was in her car during the shooting and has since been reunited with her family.

Chief Film expressed condolences to the Keleman family and provided this statement from them:

“In light of the recent events, our family is enduring an immensely painful loss of Megan Elizabeth Keleman. We kindly ask for the media and the public’s understanding of our privacy during this difficult time. We appreciate the community’s support and hope that our request for privacy will be honored so we can continue to focus on supporting each other through this difficult period.”

Police records show Williams had a criminal history that included weapons arrest in Summit County.

Court records showed he was out on bond for that charge on the condition that he would not have any firearms.

The Taco Bell on Graham Road remained closed on Thursday. A spokesperson for the restaurant released the following statement:

“We are shocked to hear that this happened. The franchise owner and operator of this location have informed us that they are working with the local authorities in their investigation of this customer incident and that they will be offering support to all team members present.”

The murder-suicide remains under investigation by Stow police.
