A suspect has been identified and charged with a single count of murder after allegedly shooting and killing his uncle at a Northport apartment complex early Thursday morning.
Captain Jack Kennedy, commander of the Tuscaloosa Violent Crimes Unit, said Northport Police were called at approximately 5:45 a.m. to the 3700 block of 17th Street in Northport on a shooting call at Knoll Circle.
NPD officers arrived on the scene and located Otis Keon Coleman, 37, dead from an apparent gunshot wound.
Kennedy said that the family told officers that Coleman’s nephew, Keyontae Franshon Coleman, had killed him.
Keyontae Coleman was located shortly after the shooting and charged with murder.
Kennedy said the motive is still under investigation and the suspect remains in the Tuscaloosa County Jail with no bond.
