A man is dead after he reportedly crossed over a double yellow line while driving and struck a pole on the city’s south side Saturday morning, according to the Columbus Division of Police.

The crash happened around 6:15 a.m. on Frebis Avenue, near South Ohio Avenue.

Police said that 32-year-old Kendall White was driving a Chevrolet Malibu westbound when he drove across the lane into the eastbound lane and struck a pole.

White was taken to Grant Medical Center in critical condition and was later pronounced dead at 7:20 a.m., according to police.

Frebis between South 22nd Street and South Champion Avenue was closed while the scene was cleared. It has since reopened.

The crash remains under investigation.
