Two months after a deadly shooting at a Martin Luther King Jr. Day event in Fort Pierce, the suspect, identified as Kemmye Riccardo Parson, has been arrested.
28-year-old Kemmye Riccardo Parson was apprehended on Friday in Tampa and is now facing multiple charges, including attempted first-degree murder and second-degree murder in connection with the death of 29-year-old Nikkitia Bryant.
Bryant was attending the event with her now 10-year-old daughter.
Family members told WPBF 25 News that she was standing at a food truck when she was shot in the abdomen — and her child saw it all.
Seven others were shot, and four more were injured in the chaos.
Investigators say they’re still looking for more suspects and are offering a $10,000 dollar reward for information.
“We want to know who the other people were in the park that shot that day; we want to know if there’s video or photos out there that our community still has that they haven’t shared. We need it, we want it,” Sheriff Ken Mascara said.
Investigators do not believe the shooting was gang-related.
Parson is being held without bond.
“With the arrest of the suspect, our work is not done. This has just begun,” the sheriff said.
