Brandon Allan Kendrick II, 32, is accused of fatally shooting his wife, Kelse Kendrick, and their four young children inside their home.

Bibb County Sheriff Jody Wade said they received a 911 call at 8:18 p.m. about a child that had been shot on Greentree Drive area of Bibb County.

They arrived to find five people shot – including four children under the age of 8.

Officials say two of the young victims were the suspect’s children and two were a nephew and niece.

Three of the children were dead on the scene. The wife Kelse Kendrick and another child were airlifted to Birmingham hospitals where they later died.

Charging documents against Kendrick say he shot his wife, Kelse Kendrick, in the head with a handgun.

The names of the slain children have not been released.

Kendrick was still at the home and was taken into custody.

“It’s a helluva thing for all the first responders that went out until the scene and were there until daylight this morning,’’ Wade said. “It’s been a long night.”

Kelse’s close friend, Taira Wheat, shared a heartbreaking post on Facebook, shedding light on the struggles Kelse faced in her marriage:

A motive has not been disclosed.

Brandon Allan Kendrick II, 32, is facing five counts of capital murder.

The charges are four counts of capital murder of a child under the age of 14, and one count of capital murder in the slayings of two or more people in one act.
