The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a shooting that left a woman dead early Friday morning.
Deputies were called shortly before 12:30 a.m. to the Brighton Police Department to investigate a report of a person shot, according to the sheriff’s office.
When they arrived, they found that Birmingham Fire & Rescue was already there and had pronounced the woman dead at the scene from an apparent gunshot wound.
The coroner identified her as 28-year-old Kandyce Marie Williams of Trussville.
Investigators say that she had been shot at another location and driven to the police department for help.
