Troopers with Louisiana State Police are investigating a three-vehicle crash that left one person on an ATV dead in West Baton Rouge Parish early Sunday evening, July 21.
Officials identified the victim as Kaleb Boone, 22, of Port Allen.
The crash happened around 5 p.m. on LA 413/ Poydras Bayou Road just north of LA 620 in Port Allen, in front of St. Peter’s Baptist Church.
According to LSP, a Kawasaki KX250 dirt bike was traveling north on LA 413 in the same area that Boone was operating a Honda TRX 400 ATV.
Troopers said the Kawasaki crossed the center of the roadway and hit a southbound 2006 Infiniti G35 in a head-on collision.
The Kawasaki continued traveling north after impact and hit Boone and the Honda ATV, added troopers.
Boone, who was not wearing a helmet, was pronounced dead at the scene, officials confirmed.
According to officials, a 15-year-old, who was also not wearing a helmet, suffered serious injuries and was transported by ambulance to Our Lady of The Lake Children’s Hospital in Baton Rouge.
The driver of the Infiniti was wearing a seatbelt and was not injured in the crash, added officials.
Driver impairment remains under investigation, and standard toxicology samples have been submitted for analysis, according to LSP.
