Josh Taylor, a top wrestler for the Otterbein University Caridnals wrestling team, has tragically died in a car accident.
Taylor died in a fatal car accident in Ohio Thursday, January 2, 2025.
The Otterbein University Cardinals wrestling team announced the tragic death of Taylor in a post on their Facebook account.
The post lamented the fact that they had to start the year with such a tragic piece of news.
“This is a post no coach ever wants to make. In a heartbreaking start to 2025 we have lost sophomore wrestling Fam1ly member Josh Taylor to a fatal car accident today,” the post said.
It continued by asking for prayers for the bereaved family.
“Please keep his parents Melissa and Andy and Josh’s siblings in your thoughts during this very difficult time. We will post funeral arrangements once they are made available. Hug your loved ones tonight,” it concluded.
The University proper also released a statemnt. “Otterbein mourns the tragic passing of sophomore men’s wrestler, Josh Taylor❤️” it wrote on Instagram.

Per the Open Mat, Josh Taylor was on a tear this season, having accumlated a 6-1 record for season 2024-25, his sophomore year.
