R&B vocalist Jesse Powell has died, according to a statement released by his family.
Jesse Powell’s sister, Tamara Powell, took to Instagram late Tuesday night (Sep. 13) to announce his death through a statement from the family, saying that he “passed away peacefully in his Los Angeles home.”
The statement reads:
He passed away peacefully in his Los Angeles home. The family asks for privacy at this time as we mourn this tremendous loss and celebrate his everlasting legacy.
Jesse loved music and he especially loved his fans who supported him throughout his career. We want you all to know that you meant the world to him.

Who was Jesse Powell?
Powell made his mark on R&B after signing with Silas/MCA in the mid 90’s and releasing his self-titled debut album. The album featured the lead single “All I Need”.
His sophomore album “’Bout It” was released in 1998 and became his most successful release as the project sold went gold. Along with the hit single “You”, he also had another big single with the record “I Wasn’t with It”. Jesse released two more albums afterwards before disappearing from the spotlight.
He is credited with a four-octave vocal range and was a Grammy nominee. He released four studio albums to date, with his latest being released in 2003.
Jesse had just celebrated his 51st birthday on September 12th, the day before his passing.
Cause of death
At this time, there isn’t any information on the cause of death or the exact date of his death.
However, a statement released by the family revealed that he passed away peacefully in his Los Angeles home.
