James Lofton: 22 year old man killed on Chicago's West Side

A 22 year old man identified as James Lofton lost his life after he was shot and killed in the East Garfield Park neighborhood Wednesday afternoon.

Two other men were shot during the incident.

Police were called at 2:02 p.m. to a report of a person shot in the 3200 block of West Maypole Avenue.

They found a 31-year-old man with one gunshot wound to the leg, and a 49-year-old man with two gunshots to the leg.

Both were taken to Mount Sinai Hospital in good condition, police said.

But later 22-year-old James Lofton self-transported to the same hospital from the scene.

He had suffered multiple gunshot wounds to the back and died at the hospital.

No one was in custody late Wednesday. Harrison Area detectives are investigating.
