A Bloomfield woman is dead and a man was arrested for driving under the influence after a three-vehicle collision Friday night on Interstate 91 in Rocky Hill.
State police say that around 8:48 p.m. in the area of exit 23, twenty-three-year-old Jacob Texidor was driving his 2011 BMW in the far left lane of I-91 Southbound.
Shortly after, for an unknown reason, Texidor veered into the center-left lane and collided with 26-year-old Jada Marie Upshaw’s Nissan Versa.
The two vehicles began to roll over, causing Upshaw’s vehicle to cross into the right center lane and hit a 2020 GMC Terrain.
Upshaw’s vehicle and the GMC Terrain came to an uncontrolled stop on the right shoulder, while Teixdor’s vehicle halted on the left shoulder.
Upshaw, a resident of Bloomfield, was taken to Hartford Hospital, where she died of her injuries.
No extrication was needed and all parties were easily accessible, said the Rocky Hill Fire Department.
There were a total of five people involved in the crash, and four of them sustained minor injuries. All three vehicles were towed from the scene.
State police’s investigation determined Texidor was operating his vehicle while under the influence of drugs and/or alcohol, and was taken into custody.
Texidor was released on a $50,000 bond and will face a judge at the New Britain Superior Court on Oct. 25.
