Isaiah Neal: Teen killed in shooting in south-central Lawrence

A 17-year-old was killed in an overnight shooting near 24th and Alabama streets in Lawrence, according to police.

The victim was Isaiah Neal, of Lawrence.

The Lawrence Police Department announced on social media officers were called around 1:15 a.m. on June 13 to the 2400 block of Alabama Street on gunshot reports.

Officers arriving at the scene found Isaiah Neal suffering from multiple gunshot wounds and began life-saving measures until paramedics arrived.

Isaiah Neal was taken to a local hospital where he was declared dead.

“The initial officers found the young man with multiple gunshot wounds and began performing life-saving aid until paramedics with Lawrence Douglas County Fire Medical arrived on scene,” according to the release.

“At that point, additional officers began securing the scene as a number of witnesses and family members began to gather. Investigations personnel were called to the scene. LDCFM paramedics transported the victim to the hospital where he later died.”

A reporter observed law enforcement vehicles and a crime scene investigation van at the scene around 4 a.m. Thursday.

Police have not arrested a suspect.
