The Minister of Tourism, Creative Arts and Culture, Mrs. Barbara Oteng-Gyasi has hinted on government’s intervention into the feud involving dancehall acts, Shatta Wale and Stonebwoy.
She said the step has become necessary because an incident such as the one which occurred on Saturday should be prevented from happening in the near future.
The minister, in an interview with Class Fm on Monday explained that the issue between the two needs to be attended to so as to prevent it from escalating in the near future. As such, they (Ministry of Tourism) and other stakeholders involved such as MUSIGA would meet the two on these issues. “We are going to engage them together with MUSIGA to ensure that we resolve whatever underlying issue that is there so that we don’t have an escalation in the near future”.
The minister also touched on the need for event organizers and parties involved to laise with artistes who have differences prior to the event, establishing that her ministry should have met together with all parties involved to prevent the unfortunate occurrence on Saturday.
The 20th VGMA came to a long halt when Stonebwoy pulled a gun on stage after Shatta Wale and his fans mounted the stage when he was picking up an award. The incident drove many high ranking personalities the British High Commissioner and ministers of state who were present away from the auditorium.
