The Gwinnett Police Department is investigating the shooting death of a teenager at a local mall officials said.
Police responded to a person shot call just after 8 p.m. Wednesday evening.
When they arrived, they found the victim, 17-year-old Elijah Dewitt of Jefferson was dead in a parking lot in the 5900 block of Sugarloaf Parkway near the of Dave & Buster’s.
It is unclear if the teen had been a customer at the Dave & Buster’s.
The Gwinnett Police Homicide Unit is working to gather more information as they conduct its investigation.
At this time, Gwinnett Police said there are no suspects and detectives are exploring all possible motives, but have yet to find one. They said that Dewitt was from Jefferson, Georgia.
“We do not know what led up to the shooting but we are gathering as much information from any witnesses that were in the area and surveillance camera if the mall has any,” Hideshi Valle said with the Gwinnett Police Department. “We do urge our citizens or anyone that might have any information to please contact our detectives.”
