Entrepreneur and actor also the Member of Parliament aspirant for the Ayawaso West Waguon Constituency on the ticket of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), John Dumelo, has stated that elections are not won on social media.
His comments comes after a twitter fan advised him to focus on doing the grounds work rather series of donations in his constituency prior to the 2020 general elections.
John Dumelo has over the past few weeks embarked on a lot of donations in his constituency, significant amongst them the University of Ghana, Legon.
He paid for the school fees of a number of students on the UG campus and quite recently donated a number of hand sanitizers across the constituency after news broke that Corona Virus cases have been reported in Ghana, one being a UG student. His actions might have triggered the current MP to also embark on donations.
A fan in a tweet to him on his official twitter page told him to do more on the grounds and concentrate less on posting his donations on social media which to him looked like John Dumelo’s focus. He wrote;
“I have one advice for you, don’t deceive yourself with these compliments! Prepare for heartbreak as much as you prepare for victory.”
In a reply to the fan, he noted that he posts only 10% of his works on social media, stating that elections are not won through that medium. He replied;
“Elections are not won on social media. I only post 10 percent of my campaign activities here. The job dey ground”.
