Two people, including Danyelle Hankins, lost their lives in a devastating crash on Chatham Road.
The crash occurred on Tuesday, December 24 around 12:20 p.m. on Chatham Road near the intersection with Leighwood Trail.
A 2006 Jeep Liberty was traveling east on Chatham Road when it crossed the centerline.
A 2002 Ford Explorer was heading west and crossed the centerline to avoid the Jeep.
However, the Jeep returned to the eastbound lane, hitting the Explorer head-on, and the Jeep caught on fire.
Three passengers were pulled out of the Jeep by a passing EMS including a one-month-old infant.
The driver and the passenger of the Jeep died on the scene and neither were wearing their seatbelt.
The infant was properly in the car seat and was flown to a nearby hospital along with the driver of the Explorer. The driver of the explorer was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash.
The crash remains under investigation.
