A video going viral shows the moment when an AR-15-equipped robber fled screaming from a California liquor store after 80-year-old Craig Cope, an owner of the store, blasted him with his shotgun.
Convenience store owner, Craig Cope, was ready at 2:45 a.m. Sunday when four would-be robbers entered the store he’s owned since 1967 near San Bernardino.
Strategically tucked behind the counter, Cope whipped out his hidden shotgun and shot one suspect in the arm, as seen in surveillance video.
The suspect screamed out after being hit in the shoulder and ran from the store.
‘He shot my arm off! He shot my arm off!’ the man can be heard shouting as he runs back to a black BMW X3.
The four suspects were located a short time later in a local hospital parking lot where one of the suspects, a 23-year-old male, was suffering from a gunshot wound consistent with a shotgun blast, according to a Riverside County Sheriff’s Department release. He remains hospitalized in critical, but stable condition.
Three of the suspects were taken into police custody booked into the Robert Presley Detention Center for robbery and conspiracy.
They are being held on a $500,000 bail.
Back in the store, Cope suffered a heart attack, having to be rushed to hospital after the shock of the incident.
