What we know about the incident

At 10:55 p.m. on Tuesday, State Park Police were dispatched for a report of a missing helicopter in the area of the forest.

Following a search, they discovered a debris field from the crash in the area of Mullica River Road in Washington Township, Burlington County, at 12:02 a.m. Wednesday.

A representative of 6ABC said at the scene that the pilot and photographer were contractors with the station.

The crew members were killed after the news station helicopter, Chopper 6, crashed in a wooded part of Washington Township around 8 p.m., according to 6ABC.

The chopper took off from the Northeast Philadelphia Airport before 7:30 p.m. and the crew flew to an assignment near Galloway Township, New Jersey.

The helicopter was a 2013 American Eurocopter AS-350A-STAR, which 6abc leases from U.S. Helicopters Inc., based in North Carolina.
