A Gary man was gunned down late Wednesday night in the 5800 block of Cypress Avenue, according to the Gary Police Department.
Police responded to a call reporting shots fired at approximately 11:30 p.m., a Gary police spokesperson said. Officers arrived and found Christian Lewis, 21, dead in a 2004 gold Jeep Cherokee which had crashed into a tree at the end of Cypress Avenue. Several other cars in the area were damaged by gunfire.
An autopsy confirmed Lewis suffered multiple gunshot wounds, the Lake County Coroner’s Office said Thursday.
Neither the Gary Police Department nor the Lake County Prosecutor’s Homicide Task Force has leads on a suspect. Several shell casings were recovered at the scene but no weapon has been located.
