Dubai based Business Tycoon Charles Ampofo has been rumoured to be the man to take over as Chief Executive of Kotoko after Dr.Kwame Kyei.
With increasing doubts over the future of the current Kotoko Chairman, Charles Ampofo seems to be the chosen man for the job as Manhyia looks to prepare for life after Dr.Kyei.
Kotoko made a pretty good start to the suspended Ghana Premier League 2019/2020 and were in and around the top spot for the last few weeks before the league was suspended due to the COVID 19 pandemic.
However, off the pitch issues have reared its ugly heads in the issues and problems of Kotoko and this has not particularly covered the current management team of the club in any glory at all.
From the issue of the severence package to former striker George Abege, after his contract termination to the Emmanuel Clottey-Esperance saga, the club have been in the news for not the best of reasons. The latter issue led to FIFA ordering Kotoko to pay an amount close to $200,000 to the Egyptian club. All these under the leadership of Dr.Kwame Kyei.
It is now believed, according to Ghanaweb.com, that Manhyia is tired of this and wants a fresh start in the form of Mr. Charles Ampofo.
Charles Ampofo is well known in the business circles as an astute business man. For his education background, he attended Abuakwa State College for his “O” Level Education and to Ahmadiyya College for my “A” Level and later to the UK and the US.
His Kampac Group Of Companies was established in 1988, primarily in Oil & Gas business with its main activities in exploration and production, oil trading, oil infrastructure development, environmental and oil services.
He has a wealth of experience in the business world and will be hoping to bring that to the fore if he is finally announced as the man to take over the reign at Kotoko.
