A 16 year old girl identified as Carlie Felix lost her life during a shooting in the Hilltop neighborhood Wednesday night.
The Columbus Division of Police said officers responded to the 500 block of South Eureka Avenue around 10:34 p.m. for a report of a shooting.
According to Sgt. Joe Albert, a 911 caller claimed the teenage girl accidentally shot herself in the abdomen.
Carlie Felix was taken to Grant Medical Center where she died at 11:10 p.m.
Albert said a gun was found at the scene.
Homicide detectives are investigating the incident to verify the caller’s claims.
