Ghana Black Meteors star, Bernard Tekpetey has bemoaned the absence of fans ahead of the return of football and the Bundesliga in Germany.
Bernard Tekpetey, who stars for Fortuna Dusseldorf in the German Bundesliga stressed the importance of fans in the game of football and how different it is going to be without them.
Speaking to TV3, the former Ghana U23 forward said;
“Football is back and i’m really excited, and proud because that is my passion,” he told Tv3. “It is something I really want to do all the time and with this corona, we have been home doing nothing and so I’m glad football is back,” he added.
“In games, sometimes we players we love to play when our fans are there with us, cheering us together and singing but in this case we don’t have the fans there and it looks like something is missing because sometimes when the fans are shouting and singing it gives us some motivation.”
Bernard Tekpetey was part of the Ghana U23 team that qualified for the U23 AFCON in Egypt last November. He however missed out on the tournament due to commitments to his club side.
With the return of the Bundesliga slated for May 16, Tekpetey will be looking to put in some good performances and make a case for himself in future National team call ups.
