The 20th Vodafone Ghana Music Awards (VGMA) is barely 48 hours away and has generated a number of debates with respect to nominations and categories. for various reasons, some artistes and stakeholders have raised various concerns about issues they feel need serious attention.
The latest artiste to raise concerns about the award scheme organized by Chatter House is rapper E.L.
In an interview monitored by ghlinks.com.gh on Kasapa Fm on Wednesday, the rapper stated that he doesn’t think it’s fair for a single artiste to win the artiste of the decade award.
According to the Kaalu hit maker, various artistes over the period of 10 years which is under review have contributed significantly in their own regard and deserve to be acknowledged. He added that without these efforts from the artistes, the music industry wouldn’t have taken the shape it has today. He noted that every artiste nominated in that category deserves the award.
“Everyone deserves it in their own right. I don’t think it’s appropriate or even fair to give one artiste an artiste of the decade because we’ve had different artistes mold the whole music industry for the past 10 years”.
The rapper added that he thinks a group of artistes should be presented with an award for the various roles they’ve played for the decade under review.
