A Taylor Swift fan named Ana Clara Benevides, tragically passed away during the singer’s concert in Rio de Janeiro on Friday night.
The incident occurred at the Estádio Olímpico Nilton Santos, coinciding with a heat warning issued for the city.
Benevides reportedly fainted during the concert and is believed to have suffered a cardiac arrest, according to her cousin Estela Benevides and a report by Brazilian newspaper Folha de São Paulo.
Medical personnel at the scene attempted to revive the young fan but were unsuccessful.
In videos circulating on social media, Swift is seen urging stadium staff to provide water to concertgoers.
However, in a subsequent statement, the singer clarified that Benevides had passed away before the concert began.
It remains unclear whether the group she was pointing to included the deceased fan.
Benevides was taken to the Salgado Filho Municipal Hospital, where she succumbed to her condition shortly after.
