An investigation into a fatal single-vehicle crash blocked a major thoroughfare in Cobb County for more than two hours Friday morning.
The collision was reported just before 5 a.m. along Barrett Parkway at Stilesboro Road near Kennesaw, Cobb police confirmed.
A blue 2013 Hyundai Sonata, driven by 20-year-old Amy Wamweya of Kennesaw, was headed north on Barrett Parkway.
As she approached the intersection, “for reasons unknown, Ms. Wamweya failed to maintain a single lane of travel, crossed over the raised concrete median and collided with a utility pole,” police spokesperson Aaron Wilson said.
She died at the scene.
The road reopened by 7:30 a.m., but the crash remains under investigation, police said.
