A woman who police said wrestled a gun away from her husband when he threatened to kill himself during an argument is criminally charged with shooting him a short time later in the driveway.
St. Louis County prosecutors charged 40-year-old Amanda Chaplin on Wednesday with counts of first-degree domestic assault and armed criminal action.
She is confined in the St. Louis County Jail on a $250,000 cash-only bond.
According to St. Louis County Police, the suspect and the victim, who are married, got into an argument around 1 a.m. Wednesday at their home on Lin-Tel Road.
The victim then pulled a gun from a drawer and threatened to kill himself, police said.
Police said Chaplin successfully wrestled the gun away from the victim and told him to leave.
The victim did, walking about 60 feet down the driveway to his vehicle, according to police.
Footage from a nearby camera then shows Chapin calling the victim names and saying she is going to kill him.
She then fired two shots, one of which struck the victim in the ear, according to police.
Chaplin was arrested and booked at the county jail. An initial court appearance has not been set.
