A former doctor from Corinth, Mississippi, died in a plane crash in Arkansas.
Authorities identified the victim as 68-year-old Robert Phillip Mathis.
The crash happened on Tuesday afternoon, Oct. 29 near Clinton — which is in the north-central part of the state — and involved a Beech 58 Baron aircraft, the National Transportation Safety Board announced.
A track of the flight shows the plane departed from Corinth at 7:14 a.m. on Tuesday and landed in Fayetteville, Arkansas, at 9 a.m.
The plane then departed Fayetteville at 1:56 p.m. The crash happened at approximately 2:27 p.m.
The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) reports Mathis was the only occupant and the crash followed an emergency due to a “trim issue.”
The aircraft is registered to Mathis Timber LLC in Corinth, according to the FAA registry.
Mathis previously worked as a surgeon for Magnolia Regional Health.
