A 44-year-old man was killed Sunday night in a shooting on Versailles Road, marking Lexington’s second homicide in two days.
The Fayette County coroner identified the victim as Quaynell King of Lexington.
Police were called to the 1800 block of Versailles Road at approximately 8:44 p.m. after reports of gunfire.
Shortly after, King arrived at a local hospital with a gunshot wound to the head.
He was pronounced dead at 9:20 p.m. in the emergency department of the University of Kentucky Chandler Hospital, the coroner’s office confirmed Monday morning.
This incident followed another fatal shooting on Saturday night in the 1000 block of Chinoe Road.
In that case, Gregory Williams, 35, of Warren, Michigan, was found with a gunshot wound.
He also died later at a hospital.
The Lexington Police Department has not released details about suspects or motives in either case. Investigations into both shootings are ongoing.
