Police responded to the scene around 12:40 p.m. after reports of gunfire. Upon arrival, officers found 26-year-old Chauncey Mitchell and a 25-year-old woman suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.

Both victims were rushed to a nearby hospital, but tragically, Mitchell was pronounced dead on arrival.

The woman remains in critical but stable condition.

The St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department has launched a homicide investigation, seeking to uncover the motive behind this violent act.
