The Stroud Area Regional Police Department is conducting an investigation into a fatal shooting that occurred shortly after 8:00 p.m. in Stroudsburg.
According to an official release, officers responded to multiple reports of a shooting at the Wawa on West Main Street.
Upon arrival, police discovered 17-year-old Garrett Sorrenti suffering from a gunshot wound to the neck.
Officers administered lifesaving measures until EMS arrived, but Sorrenti later succumbed to his injuries at Lehigh Valley Hospital.

During the altercation, the suspect reportedly produced a handgun and fired a single shot before fleeing the scene.
The Monroe County Coroner’s Office pronounced Sorrenti deceased at the hospital just before 11:00 p.m.
An autopsy is scheduled later this week to determine the exact cause of death.
Authorities have stated this was an isolated incident, and the Stroud Area Regional Police Department will lead the ongoing investigation.
